Las Vegas–Today the Vegas Golden Knights and their 2017-18 leading goal scorer William Karlsson have avoided going thru with salary arbitration.
Resident Hockey Insider Elliotte Friedman with Sportsnet broke the news this morning that forward Karlsson and the Golden Knights settle at $5.25 million in salary compensation.
Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston confirmed that Karlsson’s new contract is for one year so this means that their top line which includes Jonathan Marchessault and Reilly Smith remain intact for the 2108-19 season.
For Karlsson this payday raise is a significant jump from the compensation he was getting in the last year at $1 million of his two year contract he signed as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets back on June 23, 2016.
At the end of the 2017-18 season, Karlsson finished with 43 goals and was ranked third behind Alexander Ovechkin and Patrik Laine in the goal scoring department league wide.
In addition with his 43 goals, Karlsson pitched in with 35 assists for 78 points and finished out the inaugural campaign with a +49 rating.
In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Karlsson scored seven goals, recorded eight assists at 15 points, completed with a +8. One of his seven goals came with a sweet overtime marker against the San Jose Sharks in round two of the playoffs.
