For Nick Suzuki, his Owen Sound Attack squad took the reigning 2016-2017 Master Card Memorial Cup Champions the Windsor Spitfires north of the border while Cody Glass was in coffeetown as his Portland Winterhawks faceoff against their rivals the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Owen Sound Attack Vs. Windsor Spitfires
Suzuki was off to fast start in his game against the Spitfires on Saturday night when he recorded his 1 assists of the contest when he teamed up with Kevin Hancock to assist on Jonah Gadjovich 4th goal of the season at the 4:27 mark of the opening period giving Owen Sound the early 1 goal lead.
This would give Suzuki his 5th assist on the young season in the OHL.
Less than 3 minutes later Suzuki scored his 4th of the campaign and extend the Attack lead to 2 goals.

In the early stages of the middle frame, Suzuki recorded his 2nd assist of the contest when he connected with Sean Durzi to give Alan Lyszczarczyk his 2nd goal of the season with Owen Sound and knotting Suzuki 6th assist with Owen Sound in this campaign.
His 3 point night for Suzuki earned him the 2nd star of the game.
This was the third time this season that Suzuki was named one of the 3 stars of the game with the Owen Sound Attack. This also extended his point-scoring streak to 3 games and his goal scoring streak to 2.
The chemistry between Skyler McKenzie and Glass seems to be the theme for the Winterhawks team as they teamed up again for Portlands second goal of the matchup and a 2-1 lead in the 1st period. This was Cody’s 6th assist that he recorded on the season.
Just over a minute into the games second period, Glass and McKenzie connected for the 2nd time of the game and helped Chicago Blackhawks prospect Henri Jokiharju to register his 1st goal of the season. At that time of the contest, the score was 4-1 Portland.
At the 11:58 mark of the 2nd period Jokiharju and Glass teamed up this time and enabled McKenzie to score his 5th of the campaign. The score after that goal was 7-2 Winterhawks and Glass’s 7th assist of the season.
Over the 6 minute mark of the games final period, Glass knotted his 4th goal of the season and gave his Winterhawks a healthy 9-3 lead.
These early returns that both Suzuki and Glass have been doing so far for their respective junior clubs only further validates that the Golden Knights future in the offensive department is very bright.
When they come back to the big club next year and participate in all three camps (development, rookie, and training) they will have with them a higher level of confidence and the experience to make an even better impression with the Head Coach Gerard Gallant and coaching staff, Wil Nichol Director Of Player Development as well as General Manager George McPhee.
